Christiane Amanpour, who has recently moved from CNN to ABC (much to my dismay, as I am uncertain whether her show will be available here in Europe), gave an envigorating speech to Harvard students about their passage into the "real" world. She encourages them to travel, to learn languages, to participate in the global village before they go on to the next stage of their professional lives. A sort of "gap" year, or gap period prior to going on, in order to glean greater insight into the world --- and of course, into themselves.!
