Deciding to Make it a Good Day

It's Monday morning. You may not be looking forward to it. Perhaps the job is no longer enjoyable or challenging ... just rote, mere routine, and possibly strife. Perhaps your health is not top-notch. Perhaps finances are keeping your stress levels high. Perhaps there are issues with your children, your parents, or your partner. Perhaps you haven't had sex in a long time, or perhaps you have a partner who wants it too much. Perhaps the weather is grim. Perhaps you're having a bad hair day. Perhaps you discovered another wrinkle, a new spare tire around your waist, or the first liver spot on your hands.

Nevertheless, your day is what you make of it. You can always decide. You decide where you place your attention and you decide the thoughts that you will think about that area on which you focus your thoughts and feelings. There is so much to be said about the topic of being continually aware of yourself and those thoughts because right there - in those thoughts - you are making your day. Here are some quotations to inspire you:
  • What you love you empower and what you fear you empower - and what you empower you attract. Anonymous
  • When one realizes one is asleep, at that moment one is already half-awake. Ouspensky
  • Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive, because your words become your behaviors. Keep your behaviors positive, because your behaviors become your habits. Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny. Gandhi
  • Whatever a person's mind dwells on intensely and with firm resolve, that is exactly what he becomes. Shankaracharya

For much more about how to consciously choose your thoughts and feelings, hence taking charge of them, and about becoming aware of the choices you have at all times in order to transform your life, have a look at my book Rewiring the Soul: Finding the Possible Self (paperback or Kindle).

From the Description on Amazon: Ask anyone, whatever their circumstances, if their life is vibrant, fulfilling, harmonious and happy. An honest reply is likely to be 'no', because to answer a truthful 'yes' is no mean feat. Only to grow psychologically and emotionally is not enough. And only to grow spiritually is not enough either. All three dimensions need to be developed in order to realize your full potential. If you are willing to assume total responsibility for the self and to start what is an on-going journey, you will quickly begin to glimpse the first fruits of the ultimate goal: inner well-being, freedom, peace, harmony and joy. This book sets out the pathway to self-mastery and self-discovery and walking that pathway will be the most exciting adventure of your life.
