Winning 1000 Battles

Think of all the battles you fight everyday! Battles to get through traffic to work on time. Battles to ensure that your boss knows what a good job you are doing. Battles to ensure that your colleague knows how intelligent / innovative / enterprising / senior / advanced / fill-in-the-blank you are. Battles to let the waitress that serves your lunch know what a generous tipper you are. Battles to ensure others on the commuter train know what intelligent things you read, or how many digital devices you manage during the time you are there. Battles to ensure your children know how loving / kind / knowledgeable / sporty / young / strong / important / right you are. Battles to ensure your spouse knows how fill-in-the-blank you are. Battles to ensure that your neighbours know you are moving up in the world ... or manage to keep a greener, more lush-looking lawn than they do. Battles to ensure the others at the cocktail or dinner party understand how easily you move among them, how readily you make good /witty / intelligent conversation.

Are you getting my point? These battles are a daily, huge, up-hill climb. Many, if not most, are simply not important. But in our zeal to win these battles (for reasons too innumerable to mention here), we forget about the most important battle of all. Here is how the Buddha put it: It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

Is the victory yours today?

For more about winning the inner victory, taking charge of your thoughts and emotions and about the self-transformational process - both in your outer life in the world, and in your inner life with your connection to your inner, divine self, have a look at my book Rewiring the Soul: Finding the Possible Self (paperback or e-book).

From the Description on Amazon: Ask anyone, whatever their circumstances, if their life is vibrant, fulfilling, harmonious and happy. An honest reply is likely to be 'no', because to answer a truthful 'yes' is no mean feat. Only to grow psychologically and emotionally is not enough. And only to grow spiritually is not enough either. All three dimensions need to be developed in order to realize your full potential. If you are willing to assume total responsibility for the self and to start what is an on-going journey, you will quickly begin to glimpse the first fruits of the ultimate goal: inner well-being, freedom, peace, harmony and joy. This book sets out the pathway to self-mastery and self-discovery and walking that pathway will be the most exciting adventure of your life.
